If I start taking STALEVO, should I stop taking my existing levodopa medicine?

Since STALEVO contains levodopa, other levodopa therapies are generally not necessary. Your healthcare professional will explain how to take STALEVO and manage your other PD medications.

Tell your healthcare professional if you have bothersome side effects. He or she can make adjustments that may reduce these effects. Be sure to take your medicine as instructed. You should not quickly lower your STALEVO dose or suddenly stop it altogether. Changes in your medication schedule should be made only under medical supervision.

Can I take STALEVO if I'm already taking Sinemet® and COMTAN®?

Since STALEVO contains the active ingredients in Sinemet®* (carbidopa/levodopa) and COMTAN®(entacapone) in a single pill, STALEVO is designed to be taken instead of Sinemet and COMTAN.

In fact, many patients who have tried STALEVO regard it as an easier therapy to take. Talk to your healthcare professional about whether switching from Sinemet and COMTAN to STALEVO is right for you.

Can STALEVO be taken with other PD medicines?

STALEVO may be used with most standard PD treatments, although dosing adjustments may be necessary. Never take COMTAN while taking STALEVO. Talk to your healthcare professional before combining STALEVO with other PD medicines.
